firstly, Other reviews… Medium amber color. Rich brown butter, toffee, dried berry, and charred nut aromas with a touch of shellac. A soft, round entry leads to a smooth dryish medium-to full-bodied palate with sweet toffee, roasted nuts, anise, and spice flavors. Finishes with with long woody fade of toffee, mineral water, and brown spices. An earthy, mature style meant for long contemplative sipping. 43% Alc./Vol. International Review of Spirits Award: Gold Medal

also Nose: Keeps to itself initially, then fudge and candy floss notes prevail, with fresh floor polish. Palate: Austere, quite dry for an instant, then lots of life bursts though. Bubble gum, lemon, brittle toffee. Finish: Lengthy and sophisticated. Less bourbon influence and fewer negative wood factors here. Comment: I was wrong! This is infinitely better. 90 points
Thirty year old Macallan is a rare whisky. The time spent maturing in carefully selected European and American oak casks which have previously held Sherry or Bourbon creates a rich, intense liquid, with a deep color achieved wholly naturally through the interaction between spirit and wood.
in addition, Few whiskies attain as exalted a status as this well-aged Macallan,
matured for three decades in a combination of specially-chosen European and American oak casks.
Triple-cask matured and presented in a gorgeous wooden box,
the exotic and aromatic single malt is soft, silky and exceptionally characterful. A real treat.
the Macallan Fine Oak 30 Years Old is the pinnacle expression of the Fine Oak range and is matured in three exceptional oak cask types.
This complex combination of casks exudes complexity and smoothness in an incomparable way, with notes of sandalwood, vanilla and black cherry.
As with all the Fine Oak series, this 30 year old Macallan is matured in a combination of both ex-sherry and ex-bourbon casks and showcases a lighter style of Macallan than the Sherry Oak series, with more of the distillery character coming through.
The 30 year old expression is described as “Heady and Aromatic”.
